This machine performs end of line testing on an engine compression brake assembly. The brake assembly is loaded by an operator on an entrance conveyor and a Pick and Place in the machine moves it between test, oil purge and exit conveyors. MCM designed and built a cam box to simulate the engine motion to the rocker arms using engine parts wherever possible. The custom cam shaft is driven by a VFD and controlled precisely during measurement. An instrumented test fixture measures the displacement and angle of each of the exhaust valves during real time operation for proper functionality and assembly.
The solution was custom designed and implemented turnkey for the customer including HMI and control software. Automatically scanning the part for unit ID, the Machine generates results with traces and stores them for later retrieval.
